Wisconsin football recruiting: soooo, how did the weekend go? [UPDATING]

The first big in-person recruiting weekend in over a year went pretty well for the Badgers.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

We’ll try and keep this post updated as we hear more about how the many, many visitors enjoyed their time in Madison over the weekend.

So far, 3-star QB Myles Burkett is the only member of the 2022 recruiting class. Here he is pictured with, from L to R, 4-star DL Isaac Hamm and 4-star OLs Carson Hinzman, Joe Brunner, and Billy Schrauth.

All five players are from Wisconsin and Burkett, who wasn’t even on his official visit, was in town to try and help seal the deal with the young men who will be protecting him or harassing the other team’s quarterback.

4-star DL Curtis Neal out of North Carolina sounded like he felt right at home in Madison this weekend.

All of the prospects listed so far are a part of the 2022 class, but there were also some 2023 class members in town too. 4-star LB Tackett Curtis (Many, La.) made the trip north to check out UW.

We’ll try and keep this post updated throughout the day as more players comment on their visits and hopefully we can get the ‘crootin cannons warmed up and firing soon.

UPDATE No. 1, 11:11 a.m. CT, Sunday, June 5, 2021:

2022 3-star DT Felix Hixon (Jackson, Ga.) is another player atop Wisconsin’s board who enjoyed himself in Madison over the weekend.

UPDATE No. 2, 1:31 p.m. CT, Sunday, June 5, 2021:

In-state 2022 4-star DE Isaac Hamm (Sun Prairie) checking in with the fire emoji. You love to see it.

While I haven’t seen anything from them on Twitter, Evan Flood at 247 notes that fellow Wisconsinsites Joe Brunner, Billy Schrauth and Carson Hinzman both had good weekends too (all posts are behind the paywall).

UPDATE No. 3, 7:58 p.m. CT, Sunday, June 5, 2021:

Love seeing all of the in-state linemen taking pictures and hanging out together. That’s cool.

UPDATE No. 4, 7:35 a.m. CT, Monday, June 6, 2021:

The top safety on the board for the Badgers had a “awesome weekend” in Madison with his mom.

UPDATE No. 5, 8:20 a.m. CT, Tuesday, June 7, 2021:

5-star RB Nicholas Singleton (Shillington, Pa.) taking the most Coach Dad picture with Coach Dad possible. Hanging on the deck in the backyard, brats and burgers on the grill presumably, bags boards set up and drinks in the cooler. HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO THIS, NICHOLAS?!?!
