Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New offer
- 2024 (!!!) DE David Stone (Oklahoma City) out of Del City High School received an offer from Wisconsin and d-line coach Ross Kolodziej on Friday, according to Stone’s Twitter account. Stone also has offers from Baylor, Iowa State, Memphis, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. He is receiving interest from in-state schools like Tulsa and Oklahoma too.
I’m truly grateful and excited to receive a full-ride scholarship to the University of Wisconsin–Madison #Badgers #Wiscon21n #OnWisconsin @Coach_Rob_J @CoachKolodziej @BrandonBroadus3 pic.twitter.com/hZO99h0R5s

Stone is listed at either 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-5 and weighing somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 pounds as a sophomore in high school. Jon McNamara over at BadgerBlitz has a good post on Stone ($) where he notes that Stone is former Wisconsin basketball player Marcus Landry’s nephew.
On his 247 profile page it mentions that Stone started the 2020 season on the freshman team but was called up to the varsity squad for the final six games. He recorded 19 tackles (eight TFL), one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and he blocked a kick.
Stone is definitely talented but he has some technique stuff to work on. He’s already built like a Big Ten defensive end and has a frame that more weight can be added to. This is a smart, early offer from the Badgers and there is mutual interest so this will be a player to watch moving forward.
