Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
Badgers back in the hunt?
- On Sunday evening, 2022 3-star CB Avyonne Jones (Southlake, Texas) out of Southlake Carroll High School announced that he was decommitting from Oklahoma State and reopening his recruitment. A month ago, on April 24, Jones said he had picked the Cowboys despite not having taken any of his official visits.

Jones previously had official visits scheduled for Arizona, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin. He has not announced if he’ll still be taking those now that his recruitment is open again. The other schools he included in his cutdown list back at the beginning of March were Kansas State, La. Tech, Arkansas, Texas Tech, SMU, Houston and Colorado. The 5-foot-11 and 185 defensive back is rated as the No. 984 and No. 96 CB in the country by the 247 Composite and the No. 136 player in Texas.
UPDATE, Tuesday, May 25 at 1:42 p.m. CT: Jones has rescheduled his official visit to Madison and will be on campus from June 17-20.
