Wisconsin football recruiting: UW offers 4-star 2023 ATH

Trevor Carter, out of Ohio, is an intriguing athlete that could play multiple places for the Badgers.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 13 Wisconsin at Michigan

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Carter hasn’t been ranked by Rivals yet, but 247 Sports lists him as the No. 81 player and No. 4 OLB in the 2023 class. He’s also listed as the No. 4 player in Ohio. According to his Hudl tape, Carter also plays RB and S for his high school although one would imagine that the Badgers are looking at him as an OLB.

Carter is an athletic player that can, clearly, play multiple positions well. While RB isn’t the position most college coaches see him at, he shows good vision and decent speed which are both elements that can help him on the defensive side of the ball. In his highlight tape he is in coverage a lot and appears to have pretty good ball skills. You can pretty easily imagine him in a sort of hybrid OLB/S role that would thrive in nickel packages (something that the Badgers play a decent amount of).

Jon McNamara at BadgerBlitz notes that Carter is “extremely excited” ($) about the UW offer. Hopefully UW can get him on campus this summer.
