EDSBS CHARITY BOWL SZN IS HERE!

We here at B5Q would never tell you what to do with your own money, but if you’re looking for a nice way to spend some this week may we suggest donating to New American Pathways in the total of a score of a Wisconsin Badgers game?

For those who are new or just don’t remember, the EDSBS Charity Bowl can best be summarized thusly: “The game is the same as it’s always been: make a donation in the name of your school or team. That donation should take the form of the score of a victory by your morally superior and physically better team over a depraved, uncharitable, and weaker rival.”

If you don’t remember the services that New American Pathways provides, here is a quick rundown:

New American Pathways is an Atlanta based nonprofit with the mission of Helping Refugees and Georgia Thrive. Our vision is for new Americans in metro Atlanta to become successful, contributing, and welcomed members of Georgia’s communities. We fulfill our goals by offering the most comprehensive, fully integrated continuum of services targeted to meet the specific needs of refugees and other immigrants in Georgia.

Our services support new Americans on their individual pathways from arrival through citizenship with programs that focus on four key milestones along the pathway – Safety & Stability, Self-Sufficiency, Success, and Service. Programs work in concert to guide new Americans on their individual pathways to long-term success.

While last football season didn’t go exactly as planned for the Badgers (or anyone tbqh) there are a couple of scores that may be good for donations.

• $20.17 for Wisconsin’s overtime win over Minnesota
• $49.11 for Wisconsin’s destruction of Michigan (who always win the Charity Bowl, so sticking it to them is nice)

• $42.28 to celebrate being Duke’s Mayo Bowl Champions

As always, other donation amounts are accepted and encouraged! Let’s do some good this week and donate more money than Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Last year, Wisconsin fans donated $3,738.06 which, I believe, is our best showing ever. However, both the Gophers and Hawkeyes donated more. Iowa was one spot ahead of us with $3,835.31 and Minnesota had an impressive $5,783,73.

We cannot let this injustice stand. Let’s spend this week being smarter, better looking and more charitable than our rivals. It’s truly the only way to live.
