Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

Badgers make top-six

  • 2022 3-star CB Avery Powell (Jersey City, N.J.) out of St. Peter’s Prep announced his top-six schools on Twitter on Thursday and the Badgers made the cut. The other five schools are Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Nebraska and Boston College.

Powell attends the same high school that our very own J.J. Post graduated from so it seems like Wisconsin is kind of starting a pipeline here, right? Powell has been high on Jim Leonhard’s list for months (he was the first CB that Leonhard offered for 2022) and it seems like new CB coach Hank Poteat has been keeping the pressure on as well. Wisconsin is in good shape with Powell and could potentially get him to commit once they get him on campus.

New offers

Henderson stands at 6-foot and weighs 150 pounds so, obviously, he’ll need to get bigger before he ever plays a down in college but the talent is certainly there. The 247 Composite has him rated as the No. 562 player and No. 32 safety in the nation. He was a starter on the 8A State Champs last year and racked up three picks and 37 tackles on the season.

Demari has a nose for the ball and, despite his small stature, is not afraid to put a lick on players who run at him.

  • 2022 3-star CB Ja’Cari Henderson (Sanford, Fla.) out of Seminole High School also announced that he had received a scholarship offer from Wisconsin on Thursday. This may come as a surprise to you...but Ja’Cari and Demari are twin brothers! Ja’Cari has also been offered by Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others.

Like his twin brother, Ja’Cari stands at 6-foot and weighs 155 pounds. He is rated as the No. 495 player in the country and No. 53 CB by the 247 Composite. Like his twin brother he also started for Seminole High’s state championship team this past season and recorded one interception and 36 tackles.

Based on his Hudl tape, he also blocked a couple of kicks and returned some kicks for touchdowns. Bottom line on both of these recruits is that they are electric athletes and Wisconsin would be lucky to have them.
