Wisconsin men’s basketball recruiting: former UNLV guard Isaac Lindsey is transferring to UW

The native of Mineral Point is coming home and joining the Badgers as a preferred walk-on.

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team have lost two players to the transfer portal in the past week but on Friday they gained a new player back. Former 3-star SG Isaac Lindsey (Mineral Point) is transferring from UNLV to UW, per his Twitter account.

Lindsey accepted a preferred walk-on offer from Greg Gard and the Badgers and will try to jump start his college career coming off of a hip injury that sidelined him for all but five games of his senior season in high school and his entire freshman year at UNLV.

The 6-foot-4 Lindsey will have four years of eligibility remaining and, before choosing the Badgers, had heard from Ball State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, Penn, Southern Illinois, UMKC, Milwaukee, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Wright State (if you can’t read the embedded tweet below).

In his junior season for Mineral Point, Lindsey averaged 20.5 points per game on 48.4% shooting (35.5% 3P%), pulled down 4.4 rebounds per game, dished out 4.3 assists per game and added 1.7 steals per game. He was a two-time all-state selection in Wisconsin too.

This is a really nice buy low option for the Badgers that has the potential to pay big dividends. If he comes back healthy he has the chance to be a solid rotational piece off the bench for Wisconsin.
