Wisconsin football recruiting: final rankings for the class of 2021

Now that National Signing Day is over, where did the Badgers end up ranked for their ‘21 class?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 13 Wisconsin at Michigan

National Signing Day was Wednesday and while the Wisconsin Badgers didn’t have any drama, they added a PWO kicker earlier in the week and that was it, they were still able to sign the best recruiting class in the online recruiting rankings era.

Let’s take a quick look around the internet and see how Wisconsin’s 2021 class was ranked by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. Overall, the Badgers signed 21 scholarship players.

ESPN

  • No. 20 ranked class in the country
  • No. 4 ranked class in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, Michigan and Maryland
  • The Badgers had six ESPN300 players in their class and eight total 4-stars, but no 5-stars
  • Top-three commits: 4-star OT Nolan Rucci (87 rating, No. 7 OT); 4-star OT Riley Mahlman (83 rating, No. 20 OT); 4-star DE T.J. Bollers (83 rating, No. 23 DE)

Rivals

  • No. 14 ranked class in the country
  • No. 3 ranked class in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan
  • The Badgers had one 5-star and eight 4-stars and seven members of the final Rivals250
  • Top-three commits: 5-star OT Nolan Rucci (6.1 rating, No. 4 OT, No. 17 overall); 4-star DE T.J. Bollers (5.9 rating, No. 106 overall); 4-star OT JP Benzschawel (5.8 rating, No. 167 overall)

247Sports

  • No. 15 ranked class in the country
  • No. 3 ranked class in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan
  • The Badgers have five members of the Top247 and feature one 5-star and 10 4-stars
  • Top-three commits: 5-star OT Nolan Rucci (.9920 rating, No. 5 OT, No. 15 overall); 4-star OT JP Benzschawel (.9399 rating, No. 15 OT, No. 131 overall); 4-star OT Riley Mahlman (.9381 rating, No. 16 OT, No. 141 overall)

247Sports Composite

  • No. 15 ranked class in the country
  • No. 3 ranked class in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan
  • For the Composite rankings, the Badgers had one 5-star and only five 4-stars

This was an excellent class for the Wisconsin Badgers and their best one since...the 2020 class which was previously the best class in school history. Hopefully this upswing in recruiting is a trend and not a blip on the radar.
