Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New commitment
- The Wisconsin Badgers received another preferred walk-on commitment for their 2021 recruiting class on Thursday afternon from RB/S Grover Bortolotti (Whitefish Bay) out of Whitefish Bay High School.

Bortolotti is a 5-foot-10 and 185 pound athlete that played both safety and running back in high school. The picture he posted on his Twitter announcement listed him as a RB, but that could obviously change once he gets on campus. Per Evan Flood of 247Sports, Bortolotti had walk-on offers from Houston Baptist, Sacred Heart, Wagner and Furman.
As a senior, Bortolotti was a Jim Leonhard Award finalist (best defensive back in the state) and was first team all-conference as a both a DB and a RB. In his seven game senior season, in which Whitefish Bay went undefeated, Bortolotti had 42 tackles, three picks, 11 passes defended and one forced fumble.
As a tailback, Bortolotti ran the ball 123 time for 761 yards (6.2 ypc) and 10 touchdowns, averaging 108.7 yards per game. We’ll see where Bortolotti ends up, but he’s another high-upside in-state kid that could pay dividends down the road for the Badgers.
