Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (sometimes more) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

  • 2023 3-star ATH/CB Jyaire Hill (Kankakee, Ill.) out of Kankakee High School announced earlier in the week that he has received an offer from Wisconsin. Hill also has offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mizzou and Penn State.

Hill stands at 6-foot-2 or 6-foot-3 and weighs 180 pounds, giving him excellent size for a cornerback and teams might also look at him as a safety, perhaps in a Tanner McEvoy-like role for UW? Evan Flood mentions ($) that BC is the only school recruiting him on offense, as a running back.

He is rated as the No. 344 player in the nation, the No. 28 ATH in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Illinois by the 247 Composite.

He has some excellent ball skills and also shows great promise as a punt returner, something the Badgers are always looking for. He has long strides which he uses to create separation from the opposition too. There are a number of teams already in on Hill here, but Wisconsin should have a bunch of playing time to offer in the defensive backfield by the time Hill would be enrolling, so that can only play to their favor.
