Wisconsin Badgers fans have been waiting with bated breath since Saturday to learn the the injury status of starting QB Graham Mertz and starting TE Jake Ferguson. As we mentioned on Sunday, Mertz was taken to the hospital but released the same day. Ferguson was able to return to the sideline during the game, but didn’t return to action.
Mertz, Ferguson, TE Jack Eschenbach, CB Semar Melvin, FB Quan Easterling and S Tyler Mais are all of the players listed as “questionable” heading into the week of practice before the Illinois game.

As has been the case all season, players in the two-deep that are listed as “questionable” have retained their spot on the depth chart. Mertz and Ferguson are both still listed as starters while Melvin is one of the six cornerbacks listed on the depth chart still.

A number of UW media types noted on Sunday night that the email sent out to all of us about media availibility on Monday listed Mertz as someone who would speak. In the past, injured players who weren’t going to play have not been made available to the media, so Mertz is probably on track to try and give it a go Saturday in Champaign, Ill.
