Well, I guess this answers a lot of our questions about Jalen Berger. On Sunday afternoon, the UW Athletics Department sent out a press release that said Berger had been dismissed from the team.
Here it is in full:
MADISON, Wis. – Redshirt freshman running back Jalen Berger has been dismissed from the Wisconsin football program, UW head coach Paul Chryst announced Sunday.
Berger, a native of Newark, N.J., appeared in seven career games for the Badgers, carrying the ball 84 times for 389 yards and scoring three touchdowns. He also had four career receptions for 30 yards.
Berger, a former 4-star prospect, is now the third running back to leave the team this season, joining freshmen Antwan Roberts and Loyal Crawford who were involved in an incident/fight that involved a knife earlier this season.
Chryst was cagey when asked about Berger’s absence from the game against Illinois, Berger’s second of the season where he dressed but didn’t play, and this might explain a lot of that.
We will update this post if any more information becomes available.
