Death, taxes, and the Wisconsin Badgers getting ranked in the teens during the college football preseason.

With the final chapter of the 2020 season closed and Alabama winning the national title Monday evening, college football pundits took to the internet to write up their annual way-too-early 2021 rankings.

Here’s a breakdown of what folks across the industry think about the Badgers with nearly eight months before fall camp even starts.

Athlon

Steven Lassan from Athlon Magazine had Wisconsin all the way up at No. 11 in his way-too-early exercise, while his coworker Bryan Fischer had the Badgers at No. 20.

The Athletic

Stewart Mandel of The Athletic ($) put out his early look. Mandel had Wisconsin listed the second highest at No. 13, with Alabama holding down the top spot and Ohio State all the way down to No. 6 to start out. Both Notre Dame (No. 10) and Iowa (No. 11) though make the cut ahead of the Badgers.

ESPN

Per usual, ESPN has the Badgers sitting in the upper teens (No. 17) with Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Georgia sitting in the top-four.

The folks from Bristol also seem quite high on Indiana (No. 10) and Iowa (No. 12) from the Big Ten as well. Penn State also sneaks in barely at No. 22.

CBS Sports

Dennis Dodd at CBS went with Clemson at No. 1, and had the Badgers listed down at No. 21 after their 4-3 season in 2020.

Sporting News

Bill Bender of Sporting News had the Badgers picked at No. 19 in his way-too-early projection.

Stadium

Brett McMurphy had the Badgers slotted at No. 15, with Ohio State at No. 1 and Penn State also in the top-10...interesting.

USA Today

Erick Smith with USA Today ranked Wisconsin at No. 14 and also was one of only a few publications to include Michigan in his rankings.
