Over the course of the last few months we’ve had installments that took a deep dive into each athlete on the Wisconsin football and men’s basketball team. Every day we had a new player that took the spotlight and we got to know him a little bit better. We learned about their background, their recruitment and what made them the special athletes they are today.
Now, with both of those series wrapped up, we decided to take a look at the people behind each of those posts. Yes, that’s right, the humble and handsome blogger. In this series you’ll get to know the keyboard warriors that give you sports opinions, beer takes, mascot rankings and reality show recaps. It’s not an easy job, or a hard one, but someone has to do it. (Editor’s note: do we?)

Favorite article/accomplishment with B5Q? Two different ones about my series trumpeting Jonathan Taylor’s march through the record books. One is that I’m so happy with how it turned out that I have “Nemesis!” on my Linkedin profile. The other is that at my day job, someone started a meeting by bringing up my latest article and saying “Check out who wrote this!”
Favorite Wisconsin sports memory? 408.
Go to drink of choice? Bushmills if it’s liquor drinkin’ time. If it’s beer, probably something from New Glarus. For the record, I am on Team Spotted Cow: the beer is good enough to be a default “Hey, what should I get a pitcher of?” and nobody’s going to complain. Also, the fact it sells incredibly well means Dan Carey gets to make fruit beers, sours and smoked rye ales.
You get one album to listen to for the rest of your life, what are you choosing and why? Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense.
Favorite book? Movie? Television show? Favorite book is “Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon” by Spider Robinson, a delightful book about a group of bar flies that solve sci-fi problems and pun. Favorite movie is a mental fight between Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Blazing Saddles and Dirty Work. Television show is Venture Bros.

Hypotheticals?
If you could get a ticket to any show or event, what would you want a ticket to? I bought tickets to two Rage Against the Machine featuring Run the Jewels concerts in different cities. REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT SOMEDAY.
If you had an endless supply of LEGOs but couldn’t sell them, what would you build? - Here’s my thought process I want something large that I can use in my apartment, so it’ll be some piece of furniture. I don’t want it falling apart, so something like a dining room table (where a lot of weight is on small legs) is out. I’m thinking a big corner couch, where the top of the headrest is just a big LEGO baseplate that you can build on.
If you were a fashion icon and whatever you wore would become a fashion trend, what fashion trends would you start? I want to see men wearing shirts where the seam attaching the arm to the rest of the shirt falls close to the armpit. That’s how it’s supposed to work, but people buy shirts that are too baggy and look like crap. It’s disappointing that I am a fashion icon but I still see this in the wild.
