Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (or more often since we are in Uncertain Times and there aren’t actual sports going on) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

  • 2022 4-star ATH Kaleb Brown (Chicago, Ill.) out of St. Rita High School received an offer from the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday according to his Twitter account. The Badgers were his 20th offer, although neither 247 nor Rivals show that many on his profile page. According to 247, Ohio State and Michigan are the two teams to beat right now, but Brown also has offers from Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame and many others.

Brown is 5-foot-11 and weighs around 180 pounds and after watching some of his highlights he just looks like a football player. I know that’s stupid, but certain dudes just do! Anyways, Brown is rated as the No. 44 player and No. 6 WR in the country by the 247Composite, the No. 38 player and No. 6 WR by the 247 standalone rankings and the No. 66 player and No. 6 WR by Rivals. According to his Hudl page, he also plays running back but it appears most teams are looking at him out wide.

Brown is, and this is as polite as I can put it, demoralizingly fast. I can’t even tell if he’s ever using his top speed because he is just effortlessly gliding past defenders. Except for the times where he is running them over or stopping on a dime while they go the complete wrong direction. His highlight video below is short and joyous if you like seeing bewildered defenders chase after a shadow.

Michigan appears to be in the lead for Brown’s services at this point and Wisconsin might be a touch late to the game here, but if the Badgers show they can use Jalen Berger as a WR/RB hybrid player then maybe Brown will want to take a visit to Madison.
