Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (or more often since we are in Uncertain Times and there aren’t actual sports going on) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New offer
- 2023 4-star (247Sports only) TE Jaxon Howard (New Hope, Minn.) out of Robbinsdale Cooper High School announced on his Twitter account that he received an offer from the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday. Howard has nearly 40 offers including Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Iowa State, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Southern Cal, Washington and nine Big Ten teams.
Blessed to have received my 40th Power 5 offer from @BadgerFootball today! Really excited and blessed to be able to build a relationship with an amazing staff @CoachBostadUW @CoachTurnerUW@WillieHoward77 @cooperhawksFB@AllenTrieu @JoshHelmholdt @HamiltonESPN@WillieHoward77 pic.twitter.com/G8xLSRu8CU

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Howard is already built like a Power 5 tight end. According to 247Sports he is rated as the No. 47 player and the No. 10 athlete in the nation while also being the No. 1 player in Minnesota.
As a freshman, Howard already looked like he belonged, both physically and skills-wise, on the same field as upperclassmen. He is a willing blocker who plays to the whistle and runs after the catch with the thought of knocking over a defender before being tackled. It will be interesting to see how his route running develops and if he grows more (he also plays defensive end and could be a 3-4 end if he gets bigger).
With so many offers already, and a burgeoning basketball career too, we’ll wait to see what sort of cut down list Howard will have before we get too invested in him as a prospect.
