Wisconsin football recruiting: 3-star WR announces top-five, sets decision date

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (or more often since we are in Uncertain Times and there aren’t actual sports going on) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

Top five and commitment date announced

• 2021 3-star WR Skyler Bell (Bronx, New York City, N.Y.) of The Taft School (Watertown, Conn.) announced his top-five schools and a commitment date via his Twitter account on Friday afternoon. The schools are Iowa, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and the Wisconsin Badgers and he will be announcing his decision on August 16, if you can’t see the embedded tweet below.

Since being offered back in May, Bell has been at the top of wide receivers coach Alvis Whitted’s list for the Badgers. He’s also the top choice of, well, me and Matt from the most recent Build-a-Badger.

Long thought to be an Iowa lean, due to the fact that he has a former teammate on the squad in Iowa City and that they’ve been recruiting him hard for a long time, Bell has seemingly cooled on the Hawkeyes and has been looking around at other options. He was originally scheduled to commit soon after the Badgers offered but he pushed back his decision date, presumably because he liked what Wisconsin was selling.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, Bell possesses nice size and top-flight speed for a wideout and would be a big get for Wisconsin. We’ll keep you posted on Bell as his commitment date draws nearer.
