Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (or more often since we are in Uncertain Times and there aren’t actual sports going on) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!

New offer

As you may have noticed in the above tweet, Smith’s coach is former Badgers DT Jeremy Patterson, which is probably one of the reasons that UW was able to get in so early on him. Smith stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 225 pounds and on his Hudl tape shows the ability to play with his hand in the dirt or standing up. He looks to be athletic enough, and has the ideal size. to play OLB at Wisconsin.

According to his MaxPreps page, Smith racked up 32 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, eight QB hurries, two pass deflections and a forced fumble last season. Since Wisconsin is in so early and has the Patterson connection, this should be a recruitment to watch closely.
