The Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team and head coach Kelly Sheffield secured another piece in their 2022 recruiting class on Monday, picking up a commitment from 6-foot-8.5 OH/OPP Martha Anthouli, according to Dennis Punzel of the Wisconsin State Journal.

Anthouli, hailing from Greece, has ample international experience- she’s represented her country at both the u16 and u18 levels. Possessing a wingspan of seven and half feet currently, she, at age 13, was named the best opposite at the u16 Balkan Championship. More recently, she led her team, and the continent, in scoring during qualifying for the u17 European Championships. She’s reportedly impressed American college and European coaches alike with her coordination and hitting ability.
Sheffield and his staff have been looking all over the globe to improve the team and Anthouli is the latest international player to join the fold. Last week, Giorgia Civita transferred to UW from Wichita State but she is originally from Italy.
Martha Anthouli (Greece) follows last week's transfer @Gio_Civita97 (Italy) from Wichita State. She will follow 2021 recruits Julia Orzol (Poland) and Anna Smrek (Canada), who's also 6-8. Latest account has Martha at 6-8 1/2.

The commitment of Anthouli means that the Badgers have filled two of their three available scholarships for the class of 2022. Illinois native Ella Wrobel, who committed to Wisconsin in late June, takes up the other spot. Between Wrobel, who is widely regarded as one of the top recruits in her class, and the new signee Anthouli, the future of the program in Madison looks very strong.
