This could be the start of a good week for the Badgers on the recruiting trail.

The Wisconsin Badgers announced a brand new recruiting Twitter account on Monday afternoon and to celebrate further, a new commit was announced an hour or so later. 2021 3-star OLB Darryl Peterson (Akron, Ohio) out of Archbishop Hoban High School announced that he was committing to the Badgers on Twitter.

Peterson chose Wisconsin over Alabama and West Virginia, who were the other two teams in his final three, as well as offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa State and others.

He has long been thought to be a Badgers lean, and potential package deal with 4-star EDGE prospect T.J. Bollers, and he committed to the Badgers either late last week or over the weekend. Wisconsin still has two more commitments to announce, if Twitter hashtags are to be believed.

Peterson is ranked as the No. 503 ranked player in the country, No. 31 SDE and No. 17 player in the state of Ohio as ranked by the 247 Composite. If you recognize his high school, it is because current Badgers fullback Quan Easterling also hails from there. Peterson is an extremely ferocious pass rusher who set a school record with 21 sacks as a junior. He joins fellow 2021 EDGE commitment Ayo Adebogun in the class, a pretty decent pass rusher himself.

The one thing Peterson will have to work on is his pass coverage since he isn’t often asked to do that at Hoban.

The Badgers 2021 class is now up to No. 17 in the nation in the 247 Composite rankings and includes verbal commitments from 12 players.
