The No. 12 ranked tight end according to the 247Sports Composite, Pugh chose Wisconsin over other offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, NC State, Northwestern, Penn State, Virginia and West Virginia.
A 6-foot-5 prospect, Pugh opted to shut down his recruitment a few days after unofficially visiting Penn State, and news that the Badgers made the top-five list for Terrance Ferguson, another four-star tight end.
Also a great defensive end for his high school team, Pugh has a nice blend of size athleticism for the tight end position. In watching his junior highlights, he demonstrates great hands and a physicality to his game on both sides of the ball that should make him a powerful run blocker.
Pugh joins a strong 2021 recruiting class that now ranks within the Top-20 classes in the country according to both 247 Sports and Rivals. He is the eleventh commit in the class, and his pledge could be the start of a strong summer for the Badgers with some of their top prospects like 4-star OLB/EDGE T.J. Bollers (Tiffin, Iowa) and 3-star DE/EDGE Daryl Peterson (Akron, Ohio) expected to choose their future school in the coming weeks.
