(Full disclosure: if you read our first post about this there is clearly some confusion by the author, whoever that may be, about when Wisconsin is playing in Maui. There is no confusion in this post. I hope.)

The Wisconsin Badgers will be journeying to Hawaii during the 2021 non-conference portion of their schedule to participate in the Maui Invitational. The official Twitter account of the tournament made the announcement on Friday.

The other teams in the 2021 field are the Texas A&M Aggies, the Oregon Ducks, the Butler Bulldogs, the Saint Mary’s Gaels, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Houston Cougars and the Chaminade Swords.

Wisconsin will have a completely different starting lineup in 2021 as their 2020 version will contain all seniors, so it will be an interesting test for a young team led by Tyler Wahl and a whole host of freshmen and sophomores.

The Badgers last journeyed to Hawaii in 2016, where they beat Tennessee and Georgetown before falling to No. 4 UNC in the finals. Ethan Happ was named to the all-tournament team and Vitto Brown led Wisconsin in scoring against the Tar Heels with 15 points. Wisconsin also played in the 2009 edition, beating Arizona, losing to eventual champ Gonzaga and then beating No. 22 Maryland in the third place game.

Wisconsin will be participating in the third annual Ft. Myers Tip-off at the end of November this upcoming season with Colorado, USF and Butler.
