Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (or more often since we are in Uncertain Times and there aren’t actual sports going on) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New offer
- 2022 4-star (Rivals standalone) RB Damari Alston (College Park, Ga.) out of Woodward Academy received an offer from the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday afternoon, according to his Twitter account. He was the second 2022 4-star RB that the Badgers offered on Friday. Alston has over two dozen offers including from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Tennessee and others.

The 5-foot-10 and 200 pound running back is rated as a 5.8 on Rivals and is currently unrated by 247Sports. While watching his Hudl tape I was struck by two things: he is fast through the hole and in the open field and he is tough to bring down. There are multiple runs where he is hit by more than one player at a time and doesn’t go down.
Alston has a solid, but not unbeatable, offer list and the Badgers have had recent success at Woodward Academy. You may remember Arrington Farrar in the 2015 class, a 4-star ATH that Wisconsin flipped on signing day, who also attended Woodward. While things didn’t necessarily work out like both parties hoped at Wisconsin, it still gives the Badgers an in with Alston.
