This bracket is officially under protest by B5Q!

NCAA Basketball: Minnesota at Wisconsin Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

In this house, we only recognize ESPN’s BPI Simulated Bracket. Why? Well because SB Nation’s FanPulse Bracket didn’t go our way and we are upset about it. What do you do when you’re upset with something? Disagree and get mad online!

Ok, but seriously, fair is fair and despite the effort from Wisconsin Badgers fans they were not able to pull off the upset against the top seeded Baylor Bears. In the voting for the FanPulse bracket Baylor defeated the Badgers by getting 63% of the vote compared to the Badgers 37% nationwide. It was a good run by Badger fans, but it appears our journey in the bracket has come to an end. However, you can still sign up as we work toward crowning one true champion.

In all honesty, I would have loved to see how the Badgers played a team like Baylor. Two contrasting rosters and styles would have been really fun to watch. If this thing was handled on the court, rather than with clicks, I think we would have had a really fun battle to see who advanced. With two top-15 defenses, this game would have been a clinic for defensive basketball which is always fun to watch when it’s done right.

The Bears did advance, which means the Elite 8 is now set. In the Midwest Region the Baylor Bears will take on the Florida State Seminoles. Out East Dayton took care of Louisville and Michigan State took care of Creighton to set up a Flyers/Spartan matchup. Out West Gonzaga knocked off Oregon, and Duke narrowly escaped San Diego State, beating them by just 0.43% of the vote. Lastly, down South Kansas took care of Seton Hall and Maryland took care of Kentucky, setting the Elite 8 below.

I’d take any basketball, or sports in general, but this would not be an ideal Elite 8 for Badger fans. Having to watch the two teams you share the Big Ten title with move on would be tough pill to swallow, but would kind of be on par for Wisconsin sports in general. Overall, it was a good run for us Badger fans and we gave it our best shot. At the end of the day, we’re still champions according to ESPN’s BPI Simulated bracket and NOBODY can take that away from us!
