Just as most thought the 2020 recruiting cycle was in the books, the Wisconsin Badgers reeled in another talented in-state prospect for next year.
Gavin Meyers (Lourdes Academy), a 2-star punter (by 247 Sports) out of Oshkosh announced his commitment Wednesday afternoon via Twitter. Meyers is rated as a 5-star prospect on Kohl’s Kicking, which specializes in rating, uh, specialists.

Accepting a preferred walk-on spot for Wisconsin, Meyers is another young punter to join the program in hopes of bolstering the specialist room. Ranked as the No. 18 punter in the country according to Kohl’s Kicking, Meyers held other walk-on opportunities with Illinois, Iowa and North Dakota State as well as a scholarship offer from Minnesota-Duluth.
With the punting job up for grabs this fall, Meyers will be another strong contender for the role. We asked Meyers about committing to Wisconsin via Twitter DM and he said “I believe that I have a solid foundation with punting and can’t wait to get into the Wisconsin program to reach my full potential.”
