Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
Badgers make the cut on two prospects
- The Badgers made a pair of offers on their Junior Day back at the beginning of March and one of those players, 3-star (247 Sports standalone) WR Markus Allen (Clayton, Ohio) of Northmont High School, has trimmed his list down to a top-10 which includes Wisconsin.

Allen hasn’t set up official visits yet, but it would be big if Wisconsin could get one. The 6-foot-2 and 190 pound wideout seems to like Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin the most.
- All the way back at the end of January, the Badgers were passing out offers like candy and 247 Composite 4-star ATH Zakee Wheatley (Severn, Md.) of Archbishop Spalding was one of the players to get one. Earlier this week, Wheatley cut his list down to a final eight teams and Wisconsin made the cut here too.
According to 247 Sports, Wheatley has an official visit set up in Madison on June 5th. With the way things are going ::gestures at everywhere:: who knows if that will still happen, but it does show that Wheatley is serious about the Badgers.
Penn State and home-state Maryland are the top two teams on his list with Virginia in the mix as well. Wheatley can play S, CB or WR and would, honestly, be an intriguing option at ANY of those positions for the Badgers.
