Awww shucks...those are some basic uniforms

B1G Basketball! Ermahgerd, it’s here!

With Wisconsin’s schedule adjustment over the weekend, their game against Nebraska was pushed back a day, which will hopefully give the Badgers another day to make a decision on which uniforms to wear...

As a reminder, we will be rating the opposing threads on a scale of oh honey, no, to YAASS QUEEN.

Oh honey, no: Obviously, this is the worst rating. If I must explain this to you, you’re probably wearing socks with sandals right now, or a brown belt with black pants, either way, oh honey, no.

Ewww: Nice try, but no.

Werk it: You brought it.

YAASS QUEEN: Best of the best. Your proverbial milkshake brings all the proverbial boys to the yard.

School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Mascot: Cornhuskers

Color Scheme: Scarlet and Cream

Official Brand Sponsor: Adidas

Home uniform:

Nebraska’a home uniforms are white with ‘Huskers’ across the chest in red, in the same font that appears on the school’s retro logo.

The numbers that appear below are red, block numbers, outlined in black. The jersey itself has no stripes or borders around the collar or the arm holes, but it does have the Nebraska ‘N’ above the player’s name on the back of the jersey.

The shorts have the same ‘N’ logo on the side of the leg. Below the school logo is a red stripe, that just goes along the back of the shorts at the bottom.

I like the use of the ‘Husker’s on the front instead of going with the usual school name across the chest. Using a similar font for the numbers would have also been a good idea to provide a more seamless look and more continuity between the letters and numbers.

I think the jersey works without any sort of striping along the side and around the collar and arm holes.

However, I think they would have been better suited to ditch the red stripe on the back of the shorts, simply due to the fact that no stripes appear on the jersey. Going sans stripe would have made for a cleaner look.

Away uniform:

The Cornhuskers away uniform is more traditional, having ‘Nebraska’ across the chest in white and outlined in black, on top of the red uniform.

Just like the home uniforms, the away uniforms have no striping or outline on the collar.

The shorts feature the ‘N’ logo in white and feature the same striping at the bottom of the shorts, but in black. I think Nebraska missed and opportunity here. In years past they have worn a red uniform, that has ‘Nebraska’ across the chest, but in the same font as their home uniforms have ‘Huskers.’

If you’re going to commit to the design as they did with the home uniform, they should on the away red’s as well. In going with just the block ‘Nebraska,’ it’s just a basic and boring looking uniform.

Alternate Uniform:

The Huskers introduced a new alternate uniform this season, which is black, with white on the collar and the arm holes of the jersey and then the Nebraksa ‘N’ in red on the chest in red, outlined in white. The number is in red with white outline as well.

The shorts on the same as their two other uniforms, with the ‘N’ in red and a white stripe along the back of the shorts. The shorts also feature a white waistband.

I think this is a cool concept. I like when school’s choose to go with a blackout option for their alternate uniform, but to just have the ‘N’ across the front of the uniform? I feel like it’s just not enough... and it’s just not a cool enough logo, to have it featured solo (and I would feel the same about a black Wisconsin uniform with just the motion W across the chest.. don’t do it).

Like I said, the concept and idea of the uniform is good, it’s a great base, as the white and red accents go well on the black canvas, but I would have liked to see ‘Husker’s across the chest in red - it would have made this uniform so much better.

They just fell short...
