SB Nation Reacts: the nation picks the wrong most overrated coach

Drew has thoughts that put him in the unenviable position of...gulp...defending Jim Harbaugh.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged in Wisconsin Badgers fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

Coming off of an embarrassing home loss, there isn’t much national confidence in Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

College football fans were asked in the latest SB Nation Reacts survey who they thought was the most overrated coach in the country. The Michigan coach was selected by a wide margin, earning 53 percent of the vote, well ahead of the next highest total, Texas coach Tom Herman with 19 percent.

Can we have a moment of “real talk” here? I picked Mike Leach as the most overrated coach in the country as his offense runs, basically, three plays and any non-brain dead defensive coordinator can bottle it up pretty easily. He says wacky things and occasionally his QB throws for 600 yards, but he ain’t a good coach and anyone who thinks so is wrong. For all of Harbaugh’s failings as Michigan’s coach I think he’s probably properly rated as opposed to overrated.

Michigan’s loss last week to Michigan State may have eliminated the Wolverines from playoff contention. That list of hopeful teams may get trimmed again this week with two huge battles. Top-ranked Clemson travels to play No. 4 Notre Dame without the Tigers’ star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. However, fans still believe Clemson will find a way to stay undefeated. With the ACC abandoning divisions this season however, these two teams could meet again in the ACC Title game if the loser finishes with only one loss.

If Notre Dame falls from the fourth spot, the winner of the Florida-Georgia game makes a strong argument to take their place. In the battle of the one-loss SEC teams, Georgia is being picked by a nice amount of fans nationally. The Dawgs and the Gators are one of the game on which Tyler suggests wagering, and he’s been on a heater lately so I’d listen to him.

For the second consecutive week the Wisconsin Badgers have seen their game get canceled due to a Covid-19 outbreak. However, when the team does return to action, fans still have high expectations. Wisconsin is still scheduled to play Michigan next weekend in primetime, but we’ll obviously find out more about that early next week.

According to Badgers fans surveyed, 88 percent believe the team is still headed in the right direction. That’s a slight uptick from 86 percent a week ago, but down from their high of 97 percent. To be fair, it is hard to be super confident in the team when they aren’t playing and many on the team are sick.
