GAME NOTES: Northwestern 17, Wisconsin 7

Here are the game notes from No. 19 Northwestern’s win over No. 10 Wisconsin, courtesy of the UW Athletic Department:

  • Including Chimere Dike’s 49-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter — which followed a fumble forced by Keeanu Benton recovered by Spencer Lytle — the Badgers have scored off all five turnovers forced this season (including four TDs).
  • Northwestern had 13 total yards in the third quarter.
  • The Badgers defense held Northwestern to its season-low rushing total of just 24 yards on 23 attempts for an average of 1.04 yards per carry.
  • Wisconsin limited Northwestern to 2-for-15 on third down. On the season, Badger opponents are now just 7-for-36 on third down (19.4%).
  • UW won the time of possession battle for the third time in three games, owning a margin of 37:01 to 22:59.
  • Junior TE Jake Ferguson matched his career high with seven catches for 58 yards.
  • Ferguson has caught at least one pass in each of his 30 career games, matching the nation’s fifth longest active streak.
  • Freshman WR Chimere Dike scored the first touchdown of his career, pulling in a 49-yard TD pass from Mertz to open the scoring for the Badgers in the first quarter. He finished with two catches for a career-best 52 yards.

  • Redshirt freshman WR Stephan Bracey hauled in his first collegiate reception, with an 11-yard catch in the third quarter.
  • Freshman RB Jalen Berger rushed for a career-high 93 yards on 15 carries.
  • Senior WR Jack Dunn set new career bests with four catches for 37 yards.
  • Senior WR Adam Krumholz hauled in three catches for 37 yards, setting career highs in both.
  • Junior ILB Jack Sanborn tallied a career-high 14 tackles, including his first sack of the season. Sanborn now owns 6.5 career sacks.

  • Sophomore ILB Leo Chenal posted a career-best six tackles and tallied five QB hits in the game.
  • Freshman OLB Nick Herbig added to his team-high tackles-for-loss total, recording 1.0 on the day. He now has 5.0 TFLs in three games this season.
  • Junior P Andy Vujnovich saw his most work as a Badger, logging seven punts for 291 yards, good for an average of 41.6 per kick. He tallied a long of 57 yards and also downed three punts inside the 20-yard line, including one out-of-bounds at the two-yard line. Vujnovich entered the game with seven total punts in the first two games combined.
