Before you settle in for an enjoyable Super Bowl weekend of eating and drinking and watching commercials, here are some brief Wisconsin Badgers coaching updates from men’s basketball, football, volleyball and women’s soccer.
- Per a press release from the athletic department, the UW Athletic Board met Friday afternoon and approved the following recommendations of the UW Department of Athletics regarding contracts for fall sports head coaches:
Football coach Paul Chryst’s five-year agreement was extended through January 31, 2025.
Volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield’s five-year agreement was extended through January 31, 2025.
Women’s soccer coach Paula Wilkins’ three-year agreement was extended through January 31, 2023.
- Before we get into the actual basketball game coverage, here are some last thoughts from various people related to Greg Gard and the rest of this whole week’s ::gestures wildly at everything::.
When I started my next career Coach was there. All of this I’m saying to tell all of you Coach Gard helped me to become who I am today and that I am grateful for. #thankyoucoach

We will have our regularly scheduled basketball game day coverage starting Saturday morning. Belz will be at the game covering it for us and he’ll be posting pictures on our Instagram account (@buckys5thquarter) which we’ve finally revived.
Reminder for those attending the game against the No. 14 Michigan State Spartans on Saturday (noon CT) that it is a Stripe Out game. Click here for which sections are red and which sections are white.
