Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
US Army All-America Bowl updates
- First things first. 4-star New Jersey RB Jalen Berger (No. 36 for the East team) is scheduled to announce his commitment during the game on Saturday. We will have all the coverage of that for you here on B5Q.

It will be exciting to see Wedig and Nelson blocking together so we can get a glimpse of the future of the Wisconsin offensive line. You can find some glowing comments on Nelson’s performance in practice from 247Sports right here. Another complimentary update from 247 on both linemen can be found here ($).
- The top performer in US Army All-America Bowl history happens to be a Badger!
Crazy to think this is reality. Thank you @AABonNBC for the opportunity! Dreams come true if you go all in! #StayDangerous https://t.co/azaa4PdDGo

4-star S Braelon Allen (Fond du Lac) is expected to make his announcement soon and the Badgers are thought to be the front-runner. Devin Brown (Queen Creek, Ariz.) is the top QB target for the Badgers in the 2022 class. He has one offer so far, from Wisconsin, and the Badgers appear to be in the lead for him too.
Football offers
- Wauwatosa 2021 3-star OL Marcus Mbow (East) receive another offer this week.
I’m excited and honored to announce that I’ve received an offer to Purdue University! #BoilerUp Thank you @JSinz84 @EronHodges. pic.twitter.com/70G1TsHmVQ
— Marcus Mbow (@MarcusMbow) January 3, 2020
The Badgers have yet to offer, and they already have a couple of o-linemen in their 2021 class, but Mbow is one to keep an eye on for the Badgers.
Basketball commit highlights
- 2020 4-star PF Ben Carlson (Woodbury, Minn.) of East Ridge High School played a game in my backyard on Thursday night against Wayzata High School. Sadly I was sick all day on Thursday, I’ll spare you the details, and couldn’t make it to the game. Carlson dropped 25 points on the Trojans in East Ridge’s 84-61 win.
