Recruiting is the lifeblood of any major college athletics team, but following it closely as a fan can sometimes be difficult and can often be time consuming. We’ll try and condense all the recruiting news you can use into this bi-weekly (daily this week with all of the offers being given out) post. It’ll include updates on current commits, including stats from their high school games, as well as news on players the Badgers are still pursuing. Let’s get down to business!
New offer
- 2021 4-star LB Junior Colson (Brentwood, Tenn.) of Ravenwood High School is the most recent high school prospect to be offered by the Wisconsin Badgers.

The 6-foot-2 and 215 pound linebacker is rated as the No. 100 player overall on Rivals and No. 205 overall by 247 Sports. He has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and others. According to Rivals, Ohio State has been showing interest too.
His Hudl profile page lists a 4.5 40-yard dash time, while 247 has him at a 4.77, and his highlight video shows a quick LB that is dogged in their pursuit of the ball carrier. He would obviously be a nice addition to the 2021 class and the Badgers have proven they can attract top-end talent at this position from all over the country.
New rankings
- What a jump for 2020
4-star5-STAR OT Jack Nelson in the 247 Rankings. Check out the article on 247 for glowing quotes about Nelson’s week at the All-American Bowl.

As noted by Jesse Temple, and also my brother-in-law who texted me, this now makes back-to-back years with 5-star OL at Wisconsin. He is now the No. 26 player in the nation according to 247 Sports and the No. 2 tackle.
The national recruiting analysts from 247Sports are hosting their 5-star reveal show. Wisconsin offensive tackle Jack Nelson just earned a boost to a 5-star. Incredible leap after starring at the All-American Bowl week. Badgers now with 5-star O-linemen in consecutive years.

Keep in mind that Nelson is already on campus too which will help him try and crack the two-deep this spring.
In-home visits
- Coach Dad looks real “dad-like” in all of these pictures in recruits’ homes. It’s also nice that Jim Leonhard is getting in some extra face time with the only DB in the 2020 class, Max Lofy.
