After Greg Gard snatched some key basketball recruits from the state of Minnesota, Paul Chryst took advantage of a huge home win over Michigan to earn a commitment from the No. 1 Minnesota football prospect in the 2021 class.

OL Riley Mahlman (Lakeville, Minn.), rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports, announced via Twitter on Sunday his commitment to Wisconsin. In addition to being the top prospect in Minnesota, 247Sports also ranks Mahlman the No. 27 OL and the No. 221 overall recruit.

The six-foot-seven-inch and 270-pound Mahlman has great size for a high school junior, and will only bulk up more in the next two to three years. Mahlman demonstrates in his Hudl highlights that he is a bully of a run blocker, has decent quickness, and can handle nimble players in pass protection.

Mahlman carries an impressive offer sheet including Ohio State, Nebraska, Iowa and, yes, Minnesota.

Mahlman joins JP Benzschawel as another four-star offensive tackle in Wisconsin’s 2021 class. He is the fifth commitment for the 2021 class which includes Benzschawel, Jackson Acker, Loyal Crawford, and Deacon Hill.
