After Paul Chryst’s press conference on Monday afternoon, a little more is known about who got banged up in Week 1 against USF and who will be stepping into the two-deep for Week 2 against Central Michigan.

First, a couple of things that stayed the same. Jack Coan remains the starting quarterback, despite some people’s protestations about his perfectly fine and good performance against USF, with Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf listed as sharing the backup duties. Jason Erdmann and Josh Seltzner both, ostensibly, remain the starters at guard, but Kayden Lyles has the OR designation at both positions, so we’ll probably see all three players get reps again.
Cornerbacks Faion Hicks and Deron Harrell remain the starters at cornerback and Chris Orr and Jack Sanborn remain the starters at inside linebacker despite two nice showings from backups Leo Chenal and Mike Maskalunas.
Now, to the things that have changed up, primarily due to injuries suffered against USF. Izayah Green-May is out with a right arm injury so redshirt junior Noah Burks slides into the starting lineup at outside linebacker opposite Zach Baun. Redshirt freshman Jaylan Franklin makes his first appearance on the two-deep roster as Burks’ backup.
In the updated depth chart Eric Burrell is listed as the starter in place of Nelson, Noah Burks in place of IGM. Senior Davis Moorman or Tyler Beach at right tackle with Bruss out.

Safety Scott Nelson is out for the Central Michigan game with a leg injury so redshirt junior Eric Burrell will get the start and converted cornerback Madison Cone will be his backup. Burrell got his season off on the right foot with an interception against USF, so he’ll be looking to add to that total on Saturday.
Logan Bruss, the starting right tackle in Week 1, will not play against Central Michigan due to a left leg injury and jack-of-all-offensive-linemen-trades David Moorman and sophomore Tyler Beach are listed as the two “OR starters” for this week.
The special teams depth changed remains unchanged from Week 1.
[UPDATE: Thursday 9/5, 11:19 am CT]
Freshman Keeanu Benton will likely see a lot more time against Central Michigan with Bryson Williams out. He played well in the opener, but is still young, raw. https://t.co/Y1aWJCKyjs

One key point related to the injury suffered by #Badgers NT Bryson Williams: UW played a 2-4-5 in the opener and likely will do so again Saturday. That extends UW DL depth. You'll see several different DL tandems on the field.
