B5Q Blogopean Union: Better late than never

When Drew is in Wisconsin without his computer and with his grumpy children sometimes posting gets delayed.

NCAA Football: Minnesota at Wisconsin Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).

We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.

  • The big news from over the weekend was the not guilty verdict handed down in the Quintez Cephus trial.

It seems as though much of the discussion surrounding this case was hashed out in the comments section over the weekend and I’d like to thank almost all of you for being civil while discussing a decision fraught with potential internet argument landmines. I am glad justice was served.

  • In far more inconsequential news, former Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook caused a bit of a stir on the ol’ Tweetbox Friday night.

VITALY PISETSKY!!!!!

Anyways, Hornibrook isn’t even the frontrunner for the starting QB job at Florida State and if I know anything about football coaches it’s that they love when their backup (?) QB is causing a commotion with his comments.

  • Khalil Iverson sent a dude straight through the Earth’s surface during a dunk contest.
  • A quick Badgers in the NFL roundup:
  • Cole Caufield probably could’ve started on my high school’s hockey team at the age he is in this video.
  • The Wisconsin basketball team is full of youths! God, Lolla Youths are the worst kind of youths.
  • I don’t even know how one would finish this in general, let alone place 13th.
  • It is worth noting that Dana Rettke is not a “former” Badger, but a current one. Per usual, I’m an idiot.
