Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).
We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.
- Quintez Cephus is officially back in school at UW-Madison and back on the football team.
Cephus on why he wanted to stay at Wisconsin:
— Zach Heilprin (@ZachHeilprin) August 19, 2019
“Because of my coaches and teammates. Them doing as much as they could to support me through this whole thing.
“I have no reason to run from Wisconsin.” #Badgers
This is what we mean when we talk FAMILY! Our guys will stand with you, we recruit with integrity and we take care of our own! Incredibly happy to have you back @QoDeep_87 !!! Let’s get to work Q! pic.twitter.com/mL7pP5dUNG

- Late on Monday night an Iowa commit flipped to Wisconsin! Welcome aboard to SDE/OLB Aaron Witt!
- The women’s soccer team was picked to finish third in the conference this year. They also had three players on the B1G preseason honors list. Coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last year, the Badgers will be expected to make some noise again come tourney time.
Congrats to our 3️⃣ #Badgers on the #B1GWSOC preseason honors list! #OnWisconsin https://t.co/MsUUbfyRU5

- The men’s soccer team has a friendly with local USL League One side Forward Madison on Wednesday that is free to the public. Forward Madison is one of the most exciting teams in all of American soccer for both their play on the field and their supporters in the stands. They also have the best kits in the USA, and maybe the world.
Are you coming? It's free!!

- The preseason AP Top-25 came out for football on Monday. The Badgers are ranked No. 19. There were a lot of other B1G teams ranked. Should be a fun season!
Every team in the AP Top 25 finished 2018 with a winning record.

Except #23 Nebraska (4-8)
- It was crazy shirt day at UW volleyball practice on Monday. Madison Duello and Michael Scott carried the day.
No need for a poll, guys.

- Quick Badgers in the NFL update:
#Dolphins G Michael Deiter showed us why he is the frontrunner to open the season as the starting left guard as a rookie on Friday night
— Ryan Smith (@PFF_RyanSmith) August 19, 2019
Deiter allowed just 1 pressure in 30 pass-blocking snaps, excelled as a run-blocker and drew a penalty

Melvin Gordon, who is nearly five weeks into a holdout, told ESPN he is training rigorously in Calif. and staying ready to play football. He wants to play but continues to wait for a resolution, doesn’t want to discuss the contract. “Just waiting on the call,” he said.
