2020 DE Aaron Witt flips to Wisconsin

The former Hawkeye commit changed his mind on Monday and verbally pledged to the Badgers.

The Wisconsin Badgers football team got some good recruiting news over the weekend that was announced on Monday evening. Three star Winona, Minn. defensive end/outside linebacker Aaron Witt flipped his commitment from Iowa to Wisconsin, he announced via his Twitter account.

Witt originally verbally pledged to Minnesota in November 2018 before decommitting in May and committing to Iowa in June. One month after he committed to Iowa, Wisconsin offered him a scholarship and one month after that...he committed to the Badgers. Got all that?

He has always said that Wisconsin was his dream school, according to 247Sports, so it’s not too surprising that a Badgers offer was able make him rethink things a second time. Beyond Iowa and Minnesota, Iowa State and North Dakota State were also involved with Witt.

The 6-foot-5 and 230 lbs. defensive end is rated as a three-star on both Rivals and 247Sports. He is ranked as the 38th SDE on Rivals and 37th SDE on 247Sports. According to Jon McNamara of Rivals, Witt will play outside linebacker at Wisconsin, which is the position he played at the Badgers camp this summer.

According to Evan Flood, Witt had 70 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, seven sacks and a pick during his junior season.

Witt is the 13th known commit for the Badgers class of 2020 and joins Malik Reed, Jordan Turner and Nick Herbig as OLB in the class.
