B5Q Blogopean Union: vote for Rose Lavelle as the best women’s soccer player

Plus: the Badgers get no credit for inventing viral game; Badger alums are getting credit in the NFL; and current Badgers are getting credit from PFF

NFL: Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).

We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.

  • Apparently this game that the Badgers have been playing for years is taking over social media.

I’ve heard that Olive Sagapolu brought it to the team and I demand that the rest of the internet cite Wisconsin when their videos of them playing this go viral.

  • Some Badgers in the NFL notes:

It’s always fun to see guys that you supported for years start to realize their dreams of playing on the biggest stage.

  • Wisconsin is a top-10 team over the last decade.

Also, peep who is ranked 14th!

  • Always good to remember this imo. VOTE FOR ROSE, YOU COWARDS!

You may take a quick look at that and go, “oh, it’s nice the Badgers got three guys on the all-conference team.” HOWEVAH, that’s is the actual All-American team that features three (3!!!) Badgers on the first-team offense. Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Biadasz and Cole Van Lanen are poised for a pretty big season if you ask me.

Once you get to the B1G team, Jake Ferguson joins the party. The only defensive representative is Eric Burrell, who made the second-team at safety.

  • LOL at how many of these runs Jonathan Taylor had last year.
  • It’s pretty cool that the volleyball team gives back to the local community with events like this.
  • The next class of national champions is officially headed to Madison.
