NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Oregon vs Wisconsin Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

If you love Badgers basketball and the community we’ve built here at Bucky’s 5th Quarter, do we have an opportunity for you. Bucky’s 5th Quarter is looking for a writer to help cover Badgers basketball this season and beyond.

This writer will be responsible for helping with our basketball coverage. There will be opportunities to write about other Badgers sports, namely football and men’s and women’s hockey. There’s also the possibility of being credentialed to cover some Badgers sports for a candidate who is local to Madison and proves to be reliable and professional. This is a part-time, remote, contract role compensated with a monthly stipend.

What qualifications should you have?

Our best candidates will:

  • Have a passion for the Badgers and will already be familiar with Bucky’s 5th Quarter.
  • Be able to produce and edit clean copy.
  • Be comfortable working in a remote environment.
  • Be adept with social media and willing to help with some occasional game day social coverage.
  • Previous sportswriting experience is preferred.

How do you apply?

To apply, please submit a resume detailing any previous writing experience, a cover letter explaining why you’re the best fit for the role, and a basketball-related writing sample. You must submit all three items as specified via the Vox Media careers page to be considered for this opportunity.

If you have questions about this role or the application process, please contact SB Nation’s Senior Talent Manager for Team Brands, Jeanna Thomas, at jeanna.thomas@sbnation.com.

SB Nation and Bucky’s 5th Quarter are committed to bringing you coverage of the Badgers from a diverse array of voices and perspectives. If your qualifications and experience do not perfectly align with every single thing we’re looking for, but you believe you have the potential to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
