Jalen Johnson Commits to Duke

Not exactly the kind of fireworks Badgers basketball fans wanted to get today, but Jalen Johnson, one of the highest rated prospects in the history of Wisconsin high school basketball, has announced his decision to play his college basketball at Duke. He also had Wisconsin, Kentucky and Arizona in his final four.

The 6-foot-9 Johnson is a consensus top five national recruit for 2020, ranked fourth nationally by Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN. A senior this coming year at Nicolet high school in Glendale, Johnson led the Knights to the WIAA Division Two state championship in March of this year and took Sun Prairie to the Division One state semifinals in his sophomore season. He averaged 19.7 points per game and the same number of rebounds per game at Nicolet last season while dishing out 5.9 assists as well.

Badgers Head Coach Greg Gard has had his problems recruiting the best talent in Wisconsin, missing out in recent years on the likes of Tyler Herro (Kentucky), Joey Hauser (Marquette, transfer to Michigan State) and Sam Hauser (Marquette, transfer to Virginia).
