Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).

We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.

  • The men’s hockey team has started practicing and is also full of promising, young players like the ones in this video!
  • A nice video on how the volleyball team’s European trip will help prepare them for their grueling B1G season ahead.
  • The men’s basketball team having the best home record in the conference since 2002 is a stat that, honestly, surprised me.

I believe I’ve mentioned this before, but I never found the Kohl Center to be a particularly intimidating or difficult place to play. I went to a Badger game at Michigan State and buddy, let me tell you...Breslin is LOUD and the students are involved the entire game and their seats are in a way better place than the Badgers student section.

Anyways, good for Wisconsin!

  • J.J. Watt owning Darren Rovell online is pretty sweet.
  • I hate that he plays for the Patriots, but it is awesome that James White has carved out basically the perfect role for himself in New England. I hope he eventually signs with a team that isn’t evil incarnate so I can cheer for him properly.
  • It would be great if the Watt brothers could just stop picking up injuries and play full seasons at 100%.
  • And, lastly in NFL news, if you couldn’t remember where some Badgers ended up this offseason, Dave Heller has you covered.
  • A couple more Badgers were named to watch lists on Thursday.
  • Take a listen to the wrestling team’s head coach, Chris Bono, as he prepares for his second season in charge in Madison.
  • Michigan is gonna try out the ol’ Dual QB System this season. Unless one of them is Bart Houston, I don’t see this working out for them.
  • Somehow On The Banks limited their areas Rutgers needed to improve to 10 for this post. Impressive editing!
  • The Terps have a pair of linebacker transfers that are looking to make an immediate impact.
  • This has nothing to do with #sports but it is a cool vantage point of the city we all love.
