Good morning! This is going to be a daily(ish) post that discusses the goings on of the rest of the Big Ten Conference, and the country as needed. Much like the European Union, the Big Ten is a loosely confederated group of entities that sometimes have the same goals (like free movement of people between countries or not winning national titles in football or basketball) and sometimes accept new members that they later regret (Estonia or Rutgers).
We hope that you will use this post to comment on things happening around the conference and also as a sort of daily open thread to discuss breaking news or argue about Spotted Cow.
Sorry that there was no post yesterday morning. My softball team, who hadn’t won a single game all season, finally won and I didn’t get home until 10:30 and I couldn’t even think about writing because I’m old and was probably still winded from running a tiny amount. Anyways, here’s Wonderwall.
- There has been a bunch of spirited discussion about Greg Gard and the direction of the men’s basketball team. Join in here or shout about it with us on Twitter!
- I haven’t picked up my copy of Phil Steele’s preview magazine yet but unsurprisingly Jonathan Taylor and Tyler Biadasz are All-America selections.

- The Badgers should have a couple of players picked in the first round of the NHL Draft according to Andy Baggot of UWBadgers.com.
NHL draft starts Friday, so @AndyBaggot

takes a look at the #Badgers draft hopefuls and Wisconsin's history of stellar draft and recruiting classes. https://t.co/xOMqZa8EaR
If five Badgers get drafted this weekend that would mean that the team next season will have 13 (!!!) NHL draft picks on the roster. You’d like to think a team like that could make it back to the NCAA Tournament, but what do I know?
- The Badgers women’s basketball team will travel to Georgia Tech on December 5th to battle the Yellow Jackets in the B1G/ACC Challenge. The Badgers have the 18th ranked recruiting class coming to campus this year and honorable mention All-B1G player Imani Lewis will be back for her sophomore campaign.
- Get your volleyball season tickets requests in by today. So, uh, stop reading this and go do that!

- Iowa nabs a 3-star CB commit from Florida.
- Purdue had a big recruiting weekend, including a visit from Wisconsin target 3-star LB Jordan Turner, and here’s what everyone had to say about it.
- Former Michigan Man, QB Brandon Peters, has transferred to Illinois to become a Lovie Lad.
- MARYLAND RUNS A DIRTY PROGRAM! GIVE US DIAMOND STONE BACK! (In reality it’s a couple of minor infractions for the men’s and women’s basketball program. Title IX works!)
- The Gophers have been on quite the hot streak on the recruiting trail recently. Here’s a good roundup of their class.
- Why aren’t there more women involved in professional sports draft coverage? Jenna Thomas from Land-Grant Holy Land and a bunch of women from around SB Nation give us their thoughts.
- I feel like these should have been in the handbook you get once you turn 25 and have to actually learn how to be an adult.
