Five-star forward Jalen Johnson names Wisconsin as one of “Final 4” programs in recruiting process

All eyes on these top programs for the in-state standout.

Big news this weekend for Wisconsin basketball recruiting, as in-state sensation Jalen Johnson announced his top four schools on Saturday night.

Johnson, the five-star prospect according to 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals, named UW along with Kentucky, Duke and Arizona in his final group of schools contending for his collegiate services. All of the aforementioned recruiting services rate him as the No. 3 player overall and No. 1 small forward in the country.

Last high school season, Johnson helped lead Nicolet to a WIAA Division 2 state title, ending with a 20-point, 20-rebound performance against Milwaukee Washington in that championship game. As a high school junior, he also claimed Gatorade state player of the year honors and the AP state player of the year award after averaging 19.9 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per contest during his 2018-19 campaign.

Johnson currently plays in AAU for Phenom University. Before moving to Nicolet, he previously played high school basketball at Sun Prairie, a northeastern suburb of Madison.

Wisconsin already has one commit for its class of 2020 in guard Lorne Bowman, Jr. 247Sports and Rivals rates the Detroit native as a three-star prospect, and he verbally pledged to the Badgers in November 2018.
