NFL Combine results for four former Badgers

Four of the eight Badgers in Indy tested on Friday

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The 2019 NFL Scouting Combine on-field testing started inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Friday, and four former Wisconsin Badgers looked to impress personnel in hopes of playing at the next level.

Three Badger offensive linemen—Beau Benzschawel, Michael Deiter and David Edwards—along with fullback Alec Ingold sprinted, jumped and performed other drills with other NFL Draft prospects. Friday’s designated position groups included offensive linemen, running backs and special teams players.

Check out the Wisconsin players’ respective performances below, along with analysis from B5Q’s Owen Riese. All stats are courtesy of NFL.com’s Combine Tracker and each player’s respective Combine profile.

Fans can watch on-field drills by Wisconsin’s linebackers Ryan Connelly, T.J. Edwards and Andrew Van Ginkel on Sunday, and safety D’Cota Dixon on Monday.

OL Beau Benzschawel

Height: 6’6
Weight: 309 pounds
Arms: 33 3/8”
Hands: 9 5/8”

40-yard dash: 5.24 seconds
Bench press: 20 reps
Vertical jump: N/A
Broad jump: N/A
3 cone drill: N/A
20-yard shuttle: N/A
60-yard shuttle: N/A

OL Michael Deiter

Height: 6’5
Weight: 309 pounds
Arms: 33 1/8”
Hands: 10 3/4”

40-yard dash: 5.23 seconds
Bench press: 21 reps
Vertical jump: 28”
Broad jump: 105”
3 cone drill: 7.88 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.81 seconds
60-yard shuttle: N/A

Owen’s analysis: Deiter and Benzschawel posted similar testing numbers, and while they looked fine in the field drills, they’re two of the safer evaluations in the class.

OL David Edwards

Height: 6’6
Weight: 308 pounds
Arms: 33 3/8”
Hands: 9 3/4”

40-yard dash: 5.28 seconds
Bench press: N/A (according to Zach Heilprin, Edwards wants to “‘maximize’ his potential” for Wisconsin’s pro day in mid-March)
Vertical jump: 25.5”
Broad jump: 99”
3 cone drill: 7.69 seconds (11th among linemen that tested in this drill)
20-yard shuttle: 4.77 seconds
60-yard shuttle: N/A

Owen’s analysis: While Edwards’ testing numbers left a bit to be desired, he looked natural in the position testing and showed the loose hips that make him an enticing tackle prospect.

FB Alec Ingold

Height: 6’1
Weight: 242 pounds
Arms: 31 1/2”
Hands: 9 5/8”

40-yard dash: 4.89 seconds (the slowest of those running backs who ran this drill, but obviously, he is a fullback)
Bench press: 16 reps
Vertical jump: 34”
Broad jump: 116”
3 cone drill: 7.35 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.32 seconds
60-yard shuttle: N/A
