Another Benzschawel brother appears to be joining the Wisconsin Badgers football program, at least in a few years.
Grafton, Wis., head coach Jim Norris tweeted on Friday afternoon that 2021 recruit J.P. Benzschawel received an offer from and verbally committed to Wisconsin. Later on Friday afternoon, the in-state product announced the news himself.
Rivals lists Benzschawel as an offensive tackle and Wisconsin as the only offer so far for the UW legacy, whose older brothers Beau and Luke have played for Wisconsin. Beau recently wrapped up his consensus first-team All-American career as a right guard in preparation for the NFL, while Luke played in 10 games (four starts) at tight end last season as a redshirt sophomore.
Their father, Scott (1983-87), and uncle, Eric (1988-92), both played for the Badgers as well.
According to his Hudl profile, which already lists him at 6’7 and 260 pounds, Benzschawel plays offensive tackle and defensive tackle for Grafton. It appears he also plays basketball for the Black Hawks.
He is the first verbal commitment for Wisconsin’s 2021 class.
