GAME THREAD: Wisconsin vs. Ohio State

It’s time.

Let’s be honest with ourselves. There isn’t a whole lot to like about this matchup for the No. 8 Wisconsin Badgers (10-2 overall, 7-2 B1G). The No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0 overall, 9-0 B1G) haven’t lost a game all season and head coach Ryan Day hasn’t lost a game in his career (15-0).

They have multiple players who, if they won the Heisman Trophy you’d go “huh, that sounds right.” They have a lineup filled with blue-chip prospects from first string to third. They’ll probably have way more fans there because most people are terrible and supporting Ohio State is terrible.

Why even play the game, amirite?

Well, most of the time in games like this Wisconsin keeps it “closer than the experts think.” Sure there are some examples, most notably in this same game against this same team, where that didn’t happen but...most of the time.

The Badgers also seem to be brimming with confidence after an undefeated sweep through November against Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue and Minnesota. That’s three trophy wins, two ranked wins and two wins on the road mixed in there. There is also the oh so slight hope that maybe, just maybe, Ohio State mails this game in. Because, let’s be serious, they’re probably in the Playoff regardless of what happens on Saturday night.

Here are the staff predictions for the game:

Bob: 58-0, Wisconsin

Ryan: 1-0, Depression over Ryan

Tyler: 31-27, Wisconsin

Owen: 31-14, Ohio State; 24-17, UW-Whitewater over Mary Hardin-Baylor

Belz: 30-20, Ohio State

Neal: 34-21, Ohio State

Rock: 30-24, Wisconsin; 3-0, Wisconsin over UCLA

Drew: 35-31, Wisconsin (BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK NOT?)

Kevin: 41-28, Ohio State

What we have here is a clean sweep for Wisconsin volleyball and Wisconsin-Whitewater while there is some discussion on who will win the Badgers/Buckeyes game. I think I speak for the rest of my friends and co-workers who are picking Wisconsin when I say this: we don’t fully believe our choice but we WANT to believe it.

What are your predictions? Does Jonathan Taylor break 100 yards against the Buckeyes? Is Chase Young kept in check? Can Quintez Cephus get loose on a couple of deep balls?
