Beaten by the Badgers: end of the season update

How have the teams that the Badgers have already beaten, and two that they didn’t beat, been doing with the rest of their season?

The Wisconsin Badgers finished their schedule with a 10-2 record. That is ten wins and two losses, but presumably some of the 12 teams they have already beaten have won other games...right? It would really make the Badgers look better if these teams won some games or perhaps a division title in the MAC.

Let’s see if they have!

USF Bulls

Result vs. Wisconsin: 49-0, loss

Current record: 4-8 overall, 2-6 AAC

Best win: The Bulls beat BYU, 27-23, on Saturday! That’s two wins in a row!

Are they going to make a bowl: Well...they might only be favored to win one of their remaining games soooooooo probably not.

UPDATE: They only won one more of their games! They are not going bowling! They fired Charlie Strong! THINGS AREN’T GOING WELL!

Central Michigan Chippewas

Result vs. Wisconsin: 61-0, loss

Current record: 8-4 overall, 6-2 MAC

Best win: In the battle for Directional Michigan supremacy, CMU beat EMU 42-16 last weekend. Now, the Chips are second in their division and only need two more wins to be bowl eligible!

UPDATE: Beating Ball State near the end of the year really cemented their hold on the West division.

Are they going to make a bowl: The next three games on their schedule are against teams with losing records (Bowling Green, Buffalo and Northern Illinois) so the Chips could wrap up a bowl bid by the first weekend in November.

UPDATE: Central Michigan won the dang MAC West and are headed to Detroit for the MAC Championship game against Miami (OH), a game in which they are favored btw. This turned into a pretty good win for the Badgers.

Michigan Wolverines

Result vs. Wisconsin: 35-14, loss

Current record: 9-3 overall, 6-3 B1G

Best win: In maybe the worst game of the season, Michigan beat No. 14 Iowa 10-3 last weekend. Puke. Why would you make me remember that game?

UPDATE: They also destroyed Notre Dame which really got Wolverines fans gassed up and thinking that this is they year they’ll beat Ohio State. LMAO.

Are they going to make a bowl: The Wolverines will not be favored in their next two games against Penn State and Notre Dame, but I guess they’ll beat Maryland and become bowl eligible.

UPDATE: Yes, they’ll make a bowl.

Northwestern Wildcats

Result vs. Wisconsin: 24-15, loss

Current record: 3-9 overall, 1-8 B1G

Best win: By default, Northwestern’s best win is against UNLV...the sixth best team in the Mountain West Mountain division.

UPDATE: THEY BEAT ILLINOIS TO RETAIN THE HAT! HAT! HAT! HAT! HAT! HAT!

Are they going to make a bowl: I’m going to go out on a limb and say no. Northwestern will not be making a bowl this year.

UPDATE: Oh, heavens no. They are terrible.

Kent State Golden Flashes

Result vs. Wisconsin: 48-0, loss

Current record: 6-6 overall, 5-3 MAC

Best win: Bowling Green, I guess?

UPDATE: Beating Buffalo in the middle of their end of season three game winning streak was their best win of the year.

Are they going to make a bowl: Yeah? Probably. Maybe? Who the hell knows.

UPDATE: They got to six wins and should make a bowl! Good for Sean Lewis!

Michigan State Spartans

Result vs. Wisconsin: 38-0, loss

Current record: 6-6 overall, 4-5 B1G

Best win: Oh man...MSU does NOT have any good wins. Indiana has to be their best win I think.

UPDATE: Yup. Indiana was their only good win.

Maryland v Michigan State Photo by Duane Burleson/Getty Images

Are they going to make a bowl: With Illinois, Rutgers and Maryland still on the schedule I have to assume that the Spartans will squeak two wins out of those three games.

UPDATE: This team, who went from Sept. 28 to Nov. 23 without a win, is going bowling.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Result vs. Wisconsin: 24-23, win

Current record: 6-6 overall, 4-5 B1G

Best win: Well wouldn’t you know it, their best win was against Wisconsin. The weekend after I wrote this original post. Fucking a.

Are they going to make a bowl: Yeah, sure! Illinois got six wins! They’ll make a bowl and they’ll be damn happy about it.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Result vs. Wisconsin: 38-7, win

Current record: 12-0 overall, 9-0 B1G

Best win: All of their wins have been pretty good, tbqh. Their best two were probably over Wisconsin, who they dismantled, and Michigan, who they also dismantled but in Michigan’s home stadium.

Are they going to make a bowl: Yeah. Duh. Who is asking these questions? They’ve won enough games already to make two bowl games this year. You know where else Ohio State is going? The B1G Championship game. If you want to go, StubHub has you covered for tickets right here.

Iowa Hawkeyes

Result vs. Wisconsin: 24-22, loss

Current record: 9-3 overall, 6-3 B1G

Best win: The Iowa Hawkeyes ended Minnesota’s perfect season and made it possible for the Badgers to win the division. Thank you, Iowa. Thank you for your service.

NCAA Football: Minnesota at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Are they going to make a bowl: Yes, they will make a bowl. No one will remember which one and I’d guess half the team flies to the wrong Florida city...but they’ll be in a bowl game for sure.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Result vs. Wisconsin: 37-21, loss

Current record: 5-7 overall, 3-6 B1G

Best win: Nebraska’s best win of the season was against Illinois. I want, no, I NEED you to read that sentence again and burn it into your memory. NEBRASKA’S BEST WIN OF THE SEASON WAS AGAINST ILLINOIS. In football, people...in football.

Brings a tear to me eye.

Are they going to make a bowl: Fuck no they aren’t!

Purdue Boilermakers

Result vs. Wisconsin: 45-24, loss

Current record: 4-8 overall, 3-6 B1G

Best win: Purdue’s best win of the season was Nebraska, which is also hilarious.

Are they going to make a bowl: No way. They are too injured to do much of anything let alone play another football game.

Minnesota Golden Gophers

Result vs. Wisconsin: 38-17, loss

Current record: 10-2 overall, 7-2 B1G

@B5QPhotos; Matt Fleming

Best win: They beat Penn State and thought it meant something. Their record against teams with a pulse this year was 1-2. Best season ever, you guys!

Are they going to make a bowl: Duh. They still won 10 games.
