The Wisconsin Badgers have effectively built a brick wall around the state of Wisconsin, as it continues to retain top talent.

Today, offensive tackle Jack Nelson from Stoughton, Wis. (Stoughton) signed with the Badgers. Nelson was the very first commit in the 2020 class, and the Badgers maintained his commitment for over two years. At the time of his commitment, Nelson was unranked. Since then, he has risen to the consensus No. 2 recruit in the state.

Nelson is good; in fact, he’s so good he was invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He’s going to help the Badgers run the ball. Oh, and his father, Todd, played for the Badgers on the offensive line.

Partly because of his early commitment, Nelson’s offer sheet is quite small. However, the only other offer was a big one — from the Michigan Wolverines. Nelson also garnered interest from Iowa.

According to 247Sports, Joe Rudolph and Chris Haering lead the recruiting effort for Nelson.
