With Trophy SZN in full swing, the Badgers and Huskers are doing battle for the Freedom Trophy in Lincoln today. The No. 14 (CFP) Wisconsin Badgers (7-2 overall, 4-2 B1G) are looking to defend the trophy, which they have never lost, against the struggling Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-5 overall, 2-4 B1G).
Nebraska has lost three in a row, and four of their last five, and will be looking for a statement win to salvage their season. The Badgers ended a two-game losing streak last weekend by holding on to beat Iowa and win the Heartland Trophy.
This would appear to be two teams headed in opposite directions, but the Badgers are known to play up or down to their opponents and after losing to Illinois earlier in the year no opponent should be overlooked.
Here are the staff predictions for the game:
Bob: 35-10, Wisconsin
Ryan: 34-10, Wisconsin
Tyler: 31-17, Wisconsin
Owen: 31-24, Wisconsin
Belz: 38-17, Wisconsin
Neal: 34-17, Wisconsin
Rock: 41-10, Wisconsin
Drew: 35-21, Wisconsin
Kevin: 24-21, Wisconsin
We all think that the Badgers are going to win, with varying levels of confidence. Belz says “I could also see this be a real nail biter” and Kevin is “sneaky nervous about this game.” This is a game that the Badgers should win, but so was the Illinois game and we all remember how that went down.
What do you think? Is this game closer than the experts think? Do the Badgers blow out the Huskers? Does Jonathan Taylor play in the fourth quarter? Let us know in the comments!
