Player breakdown

Lorne Bowman was the first commit for head coach Greg Gard and his staff in the class of 2020 and set the table, like any good point guard, for what should end up being one of the best classes in school history. His ascension up the rankings, like Wisconsin’s class, has been notable. When he verbally committed to the Badgers, none of the major recruiting sites had him ranked at all and now he is a 4-star on ESPN and a high 3-star in the 247 Composite.

Phil notes in his player profile, linked above: “Bowman will definitely need to improve his outside shooting, but brings a skill set getting to the rim that Wisconsin doesn’t often see.”

Heading into his senior season, Bowman switched AAU teams, joining EYBL squad The Family. He acquitted himself nicely on the Nike circuit, averaging 13.6 points and 3.6 assists through his first six games, according to Mitten. Bowman was also named first team all-state by the AP for 2019.

If Bowman can help convince current high school teammate, and class of 2021 shooting guard, Julian Roper to join him in Madison, he’ll be one of the top recruiters (as well as recruits) on the team.
